About the orchestra
Quinteto Beltango stands for a distinctly European perspective on tango. Founded in Belgrade in 1998 by Aleksandar Nikolic, the ensemble combines traditional tango repertoire, tango nuevo, a modern musical language and its own compositions from the so-called „Balkango" body of work. By its own account, Beltango has performed in more than 30 countries and, alongside concerts and milongas, developed larger stage formats such as „La Bombonera / Balkan Tango" and „Beltango Symphonico". At the Noche de 22 Estrellas, Beltango contributes the virtuosity and tonal range of an ensemble that preserves tango while expanding it with the colours of the Balkans.
